Everything you need to know about the product: Propolis Organic
THE INGREDIENTS OF PROPOLIS
Between 150 and 200 compounds have been identified in bee propolis. Propolis contains chemical elements such as iron, silicon, zinc, vitamins, oils with antifungal properties, and flavonoids. These water-soluble plant pigments, in particular, have a variety of health-promoting effects.
Sanitary building material of bees
Behind this name, which comes from the Greek (literally for the city), lies a substance from the realm of bees. Propolis is also called bee resin or putty resin because of its sticky, resinous consistency. Bees use propolis as a type of building material. Since temperatures in the hive reach 35 degrees Celsius and high humidity, diseases caused by bacteria, fungi, or microorganisms can easily spread. The bees hermetically seal the hive with propolis, which has antiviral and antibiotic effects on the animal kingdom. The honeycomb cells in which the offspring grow are also coated with propolis. Should foreign bodies enter the hive, these too are sealed with propolis to render them harmless. Propolis is a blend of various substances.
VERSATILE APPLICATIONS FOR THE BEE COLONY
The resinous base material (50%) is collected by special propolis bees from tree wounds and flower buds (especially poplars). This is then mixed with wax (30%), pollen (5%), essential oils (10%), and a saliva secretion to create the finished building material propolis. However, the composition of propolis can vary considerably depending on the raw material. Propolis is rich in flavonoids – natural antibiotics – vitamins, and trace elements. The wound-healing properties of propolis were discovered and utilized as early as ancient times.
BENEFIT FROM THE NATURAL MIXTURE PROPOLIS
Once these have been combated and rendered harmless, the oils, vitamins, and trace elements come into play. Propolis is highly tolerable and rarely has side effects.
Medicom is an expert in nutrient combinations and dietary supplements. Our Organic Propolis Capsules contain 400 mg of purified organic propolis. Propolis is a high-quality natural product from Medicom.
STUDIES ON PROPOLIS
There are many scientific studies on the natural bee mixture that show that propolis has health-promoting effects in various areas, such as the immune system and the oral and dental cavity.
For example, one study (1) showed that propolis extracts can strengthen the immune system. The activity of immune cells such as macrophages and lymphocytes was increased. In vitro experiments have shown that propolis extracts can stimulate the immune system and better protect the body against disease.

The defense power of bees
What do your body and a beehive have in common? Both are living organisms, and both need protection from unwanted intruders to stay healthy. Bees have found a powerful remedy for this: propolis. Consisting of flower pollen, tree resin, wax, and essential oils, this substance acts as the hive's glue and protects the colony from all kinds of pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Humans have also been using this unique mixture of substances for thousands of years to disinfect wounds or strengthen their immune systems. Its multitude of ingredients includes vitamins, trace elements, and flavonoids. Due to its specific composition, honeybee propolis has long been considered a remedy for a variety of ailments in folk medicine.
The protective shield from the beehive
High-quality propolis
Researchers are now trying to uncover the secrets of propolis. You can experience for yourself how this blend of natural substances promotes your well-being: With Medicom's Organic Propolis, you can tap into the protective power of bees and enjoy their beneficial ingredients. And all this in a particularly high-quality purified version and certified organic quality.
You ask – we answer
What exactly is propolis?
Bees live in close quarters in their hives, where humidity is high and temperatures are around 35°C – ideal conditions for the rapid spread of diseases. Therefore, the insects produce a brownish-yellow, resinous substance and use it to seal openings. The natural substance mixture propolis owes its name to this protective state: pro means "before" or "for" in Greek, and polis means "city." Propolis not only protects the bees by sealing off pathogens from the outside of the hive, but also protects the inside.
What makes propolis so special?
The substance, composed of wax, resin, pollen, and essential oils, also acts as a thin film applied inside the honeycomb cells, providing antibiotic, antiviral, and antifungal properties—i.e., it acts against bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Propolis is also of interest to humans. This unique bee product has been used in folk medicine for thousands of years, primarily in the supportive treatment of wounds and inflammatory processes. Current studies are attempting to uncover the secret of propolis. The protective resin of bees is considered a natural antibiotic with a wide range of applications.
What are the main ingredients?
Propolis is a complex mixture containing a multitude of identified ingredients. It includes vitamins, trace elements, oils with antifungal properties, and flavonoids. These water-soluble plant pigments have a variety of health-promoting effects. The resinous base substance (50%) is collected by special propolis bees from tree wounds and flower buds (especially poplars). Only what can truly benefit your health remains. And all of this in a particularly concentrated form, certified organic quality, and in easy-to-dose capsules.
How long should I take propolis?
Propolis can be used long-term at the recommended dosage. If taken daily, we recommend a break after 1-2 months. This product should not be used if you are allergic to bee products.
Since when has propolis been used?
The wound-healing properties of propolis were discovered and utilized as early as ancient times. In ancient Greece and Rome, propolis was used to disinfect wounds. In ancient Egypt, the bee glue was used to embalm mummies.
What should I look for when buying propolis products?
1. Make sure the propolis product contains purified propolis. Purified propolis is free of impurities and unwanted components. 2. If organic quality is important to you, pay attention to the labeling on the outer packaging. It must display the EU organic seal with the inspection body code and the place of agricultural production (EU or non-EU agriculture), as well as the German hexagonal organic seal.
