Especially during the darker months of the year, we like to treat our bodies to soothing, warm drinks that help us wind down and relax. This beverage, with the beautiful name "Moon Milk" from Indian Ayurveda, is commonly enjoyed before bedtime and serves as a soothing sleep ritual. The Moon Milk recipe can be prepared with turmeric, ashwagandha, or shatavari—entirely to your liking.
Ingredients for the drink
- 1 cup of milk or plant-based drink of your choice (whole milk, almond drink, oat drink, coconut drink)
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, Medicom tip: Curcuma
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground or fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon honey (alternatively maple syrup, agave syrup, or coconut blossom syrup)
- a pinch of nutmeg
And here is how it's done:
- Heat the milk or plant-based drink in a pot, but do not let it boil
- Mix all other ingredients in a bowl
- Once the milk is pleasantly warm, stir in the powder
- Stir thoroughly until everything is dissolved
- Pour into a nice mug and enjoy the Moon Milk before going to bed
