What is propolis made of?
Propolis tincture is a water-soluble preparation made from honey bee propolis and ethanol. Using a pipette, such a tincture can be dosed precisely and used both internally and externally. Here, you can learn about its versatile applications, for example, how to prepare a DIY propolis hand cream bar.
What ingredients do you need for the propolis hand balm?
- 4 tbsp cocoa butter
- 3 tbsp shea butter
- 3 tbsp beeswax
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil, e.g., almond oil
- 5 drops propolis tincture
How is the propolis hand balm prepared?
Gently melt all ingredients in a water bath; do not let them boil. Mix everything well. You can pour the liquid into a silicone chocolate mold, for example, if you would like a specific shape (hearts, stars). Alternatively, the liquid can be left to harden in a small baking tin lined with parchment paper, and the propolis hand balm can then be cut into pieces.
