Vitamin D3 + K2 tablets - detailed information

Why take vitamin D3 and K2?

Vitamin D3 is sometimes in short supply in our bodies in the summer, but especially in the winter. 90 percent of vitamin D3 is produced in our skin through sunlight. Specifically, it's UV-B rays that, via bare skin, activate the body's own vitamin D synthesis. What happens to vitamin D3 in winter? The further north you live in German-speaking countries, the shorter the days become and the less sunlight we receive.

But climatic conditions aren't the only factor that can contribute to a potential vitamin D deficiency. Certain groups of people may have a higher need for vitamin D year-round. Just three examples: People who spend most of their time indoors have no opportunity to expose themselves to sunlight. As we age, the body's ability to produce vitamin D decreases. People with impaired digestion can also have trouble absorbing the vitamin. In these cases, it's advisable to have their vitamin D levels checked with a blood test.

Vitamin duo for bones and the immune system

To utilize beneficial synergistic effects, vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 are combined in dietary supplements. Vitamin D3 is important for the maintenance of normal bones and teeth and also contributes to the normal function of the immune system. Vitamin K2 contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and normal blood clotting. These two vitamins are essential, fat-soluble vitamins.

Why combine vitamin D3 and vitamin K2?

Vitamin D3 plays an important role in bone metabolism. Vitamin K2 supports this function and utilizes beneficial synergistic effects. Both vitamins are involved in bone metabolism and support each other. Vitamin K2 activates a peptide hormone called osteocalcin, which helps to better incorporate calcium into the bones.
